Straw is a very good substrate it will give you all the moisture and googies that the mushrooms need to grow. Straw is said to give you massive pin sets. If your having trouble getting your cases to produce lots of pins. you might want to try and go with straw. Straw is a sub straight that mycelium seems to love, it will rip right through the straw substrate and in no time it will be fully colonized.
